Noida U.P. Flood Response 2023

The flooding in certain parts of Noida and Greater Noida is caused due to overflow of water in Yamuna and Hindon river due to record breaking rain in Jammu and Kashmir, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi and other north Indian states since July 8, 2023 . It has impacted more than 8,710 individuals and 67 villages situated near the Yamuna banks or Hindon river floodplains in the Gautam Budh Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh. Out of these, 4,748 people have been forced to leave their homes in the Sadar, Jewar, and Dadri blocks. Tragically, two people lost their lives in the floods.

In response to the situation, the Doctors For You team visited the flood-affected areas, conducted an observational assessment, and engaged with the affected people to better understand their challenges and requirements. The team found immediate need of humanitarian aid, including medical assistance, clean water, and sanitation facilities, to address public health emergencies and support the resilience and recovery of the affected communities. Based on their assessment, Doctors For You has proposed and sought support from funding agencies to implement disaster relief measures for the affected area in Noida.
