We want to start the project in Bihar because of the following reasons:-
1. Blood Banking is highly unorganized sector in Bihar
2. Professional donors contribute a large number to the total supply of blood
3. Blood safety is ignored by many banks
4. Negligible awareness in public about blood donation
5. Many misconceptions regarding blood donation |

6. Replacement donor are the main source of blood
7. Large number of population is migrant and are infected from some diseases such as HIV/AIDS, HBV and hence there are large number of infected bloods collected by replacement donor.
8. No future plan of action by State Health Department to solve the above problems | |

The Development of any Country depends upon the natural resources, the political power, Political stability, infrastructure, Industries and on the top of all it depends upon quality of its Manpower. One cannot even think of positive contribution from a person who is hungry or ill. A healthy mind stays in a healthy Body. We cannot think of becoming a developed nation when to majority of our population we cannot even provide basic health facility.
In the state of Bihar the condition of the Blood donation is worst. The blood requirement is more than 6 lacs Unit per annum whereas voluntary donation is less then 55 thousand unit. The rest of the blood is supplied by professional donors. The Blood donated by such persons are not safe.
Doctors for you intends to create an awareness program for increase in units of blood donated voluntarily. The problem will be attacked from five side to enable us creating sustainable awareness. |

1. Creating Awareness at school and college level:
The Best way to create awareness is at school level. The children are future donors. The awareness will be created by making a positive attitude of teachers, school management and by organization various competition at school level like poster making, painting, debate etc. These will make a positive change in the mind of future generation towards voluntary blood donation. The price for winner of such competitions may be in cash or in form of Trophy, certificate, Slogan printed T-shirts, Caps etc.
2. Creating awareness and having camps at College level:
These class is more open minded may provide us donors, volunteers etc.
3. Creating awareness in Offices, Localities:
The target donors may be masses. Offices may include both Government Offices as well as private offices. Government Hospitals & Private Clinics will also be effectively made part of state level awareness program.
4. Public Representatives:
• Finally Public representatives at all the level will be made part of the program to enable us to
• We will appeal each MP/MLA to organize at least two camps per year. The constituency with highest number of donations will be rewarded on December 1 each year. (240 MLAs , 40 MPs)
• Block Level Officer will also take care that he organizes two blood donation camps in a year.
5. Religion:
The aim will include appealing awareness through Temples, Religious Leaders and Spiritual Gurus etc. T-shirts and accessories with the message of Donate Blood shall be given to the blood donors.
The Aim of such exercise will be to create a sustainable Positive attitude towards blood donation which will eventually lead to a change in the perspective towards other public health issues. |
