This is a volunteer-driven initiative of Doctors For You (DFY): a non-government organization working for more than a decade on public health and disaster response. The Volunteering team includes doctors, engineers, data personnel, and researchers collaborating with the NGO and working to extract, curate, and verify data from different sources on available hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, and doctors for different health conditions. Why are we doing this?In a metropolitan city like Mumbai with a high-density population, an ever-increasing challenge is faced by the community to reach the desired healthcare facility in time. This situation has worsened with the ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic, as many patients are unable to receive medical care as the healthcare facilities they go to are not functional or are already full.
Many centers are already overwhelmed with patients and are unable to accommodate more patients. This is leading to an increase in preventable morbidity and mortality due to non-COVID-19 diseases and health conditions. Moreover, patients and relatives moving around from one healthcare facility to another seeking care are risking exposure and can contribute to the spread of disease. This app intends to provide a user-friendly location-based hospital and healthcare finder to ease out the process of patients’ search for the appropriate health care facility, as per his/her custom requirements.
What are our sources for the data gathered for this project?We are using lists compiled by the municipal corporations within the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) other official government bulletins, and contacting healthcare facilities across the MMR. We have also tried to reach out and contacted various hospitals, health care setups and doctors to help us gather accurate information.
Are these the only healthcare facilities or clinicians available?No, this not an exhaustive list of all the operational hospitals, clinics, or doctors. There will be other facilities and doctors that are functional. We would appreciate and welcome any facilities or doctors that you are aware of and email us at info@doctorsforyou.org
How accurate is the data?We have tried our best to verify the data on this app reflecting the information available from different sources at the time of publication. However, as you know this is subject to the changing pandemic
